Position: VP Operations

Client and Position Summary:

Our client provides customized comprehensive supply chain management and aerospace consulting programs to OEMs, system integrators, and prime contractors. The world's most respected organizations rely on our client to get them the right aircraft parts at the right time in the right place.

In summary, this is a critical role within our client’s executive leadership team, reporting to the CEO/President of their Aerospace division. The position includes responsibility for developing and executing the operational strategy, providing oversight and daily management of the operations team, driving and supporting the overall company goals, and attainment of the utmost satisfaction levels for current and future external and internal customers. We are looking for an experienced and credible leader, IT savvy, innovator, and collaborator who can drive alignment, partnerships, results and change within the organization. This leader will bring motivation, energy, transparency, and a hands-on approach as they work with the team to create and advance strategic growth and success. A corner office executive will not thrive in our client’s environment.

Our client is approximately 100 employees, with global locations. This role will be responsible for 3-4 direct reports, and about 25-30 indirect reports globally. Our client’s core business includes managing Repair process operations (including aircraft part/system exchange transactions) and aircraft Supply Chain services (providing customers the right part at the right time). Key customers span major Aerospace OEM’s, aircraft repair shops, airlines and brokers, and the monthly volume of transactions processes is significant, in the 3000+ range. This role is broad in scope, and manages processes, customer demand and customer KPI’s end-to-end, from vendor management through customer delivery and will interact closely with a small core executive leadership team. This position includes a competitive salary, management bonus program, and full benefits package.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with and provide high-level strategic advice to the President/CEO on program development, including long-term strategy and growth, targets, and opportunities.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations, development and execution of program strategy, planning, management and delivery of KPI’s.
  • Mentor and develop a large pool of international and domestic talent (direct and indirect reports), holding them accountable to a high standard of performance by establishing performance standards and conducting performance reviews.
  • Utilize business and data analytics, market research, and other information to understand the trends and needs of the programs and quickly communicate and recommend course of action to achieve goals.
  • Facilitate full collaboration between programs and with other departments, proactively identifying and resolving pain points.
  • Review operational clauses on contracts and advise on contract negotiation and ensure operational contract compliance.
  • Maintain and develop customer and supplier relationships.
  • Works closely with President/CEO to prepare executive presentations for internal and external audiences.
  • Develop, expand & lead the Operations team including manufacturing, system testing, supply chain, vendor management, inventory control, field service.
  • Providing direct oversight for operations and administrative functions including scheduling, credentialing, project management, authorizations, utilization, resource planning, and fiscal management
  • Effectively reports Results to Goals, Gaps to correct with solutions, and exhibits proactive and sometimes pre-emptive problem solving skills.
    • Manages budgets, understands cost drivers for human capital and creates solutions to manage productivity.
    • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Essential Competencies:

Primary Position Requirement:

  • BS degree required. MS degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of professional business experience managing the day-to-day operations.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and MRP systems associated with purchasing, scheduling, parts management, and MBOM structures is required. Preferably knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX and/or SAP ERP systems. Experience with custom developed MRP/ERP systems is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
  • Documented experience (10+ years) of successfully managing the full operations for a privately held service business is preferred.
  • Five plus (5+) years of management and leadership experience is required, ideally while reporting to the CEO/President.
  • Recent experience managing operations, establishing goals and holding people accountable is required, preferably within a service business ranging from $25 - $200MM.
  • Experience in a leadership role within the Aerospace industry, tied to OEM and/or MRO and parts inventory is strongly preferred.
  • Must be willing to support limited amount of travel, domestic and international.
